We might be slower on the uptake than we’d like (Splendour will do that), but the weekend heralded a dream announcement for metal fans: a Slayer and Megadeth double-bill. The two bands will blaze around the country in early October, drawing on their formidable back-catalogues.
Slayer was last here in 2007 after a six-year absence, playing what our Sydney reviewer described as “a brutally intense performance”. Their tourmates Megadeth were also here that year for the Gigantour tour alongside other metal heavyweights. In the words of our Brisbane scribe: “All and sundry were appreciative of the classic thrash that was dished out with much aplomb.” Both stalwarts have new albums out this year, ensuring these 2009 dates will be highly charged.
Slayer and Megadeth play these shows in October. Tickets on sale Monday 10 August.
Wednesday 7th October – Riverstage Brisbane
Thursday 8th October – Hordern Pavilion Sydney
Friday 9th October – Festival Hall Melbourne
Sunday 11th October – Thebarton Theatre Adelaide
Tuesday 13th October – Challenge Stadium Perth
