Set Report: Bloc Party
Sun 26th Jul, 2009 in Local News
Returning heroes Bloc Party capped off day one of Splendour In The Grass with a greatest hits set in the Supertop. Fresh from their rare Silent Alarm run-through at the Great Northern Hotel, the UK four-piece delivered highlights from all three of their albums – plus new standalone single One More Chance.
The band was in tight form throughout the set, dishing out their urgent indie-rock to an overflowing crowd. Frontman Kele Okereke quipped that Byron Bay had shown him “so many drunk, happy kids having a good time” – and the mood was certainly ecstatic. Pulsing white lights heightened the mood of anthems like Banquet and Flux, with Like Eating Glass the perfect send-off.
