Sydney’s summer frolic Homebake has just announced its first round of names for this December. The festival is celebrating its 15th anniversary in 2009 and there’s a line-up worthy of the occasion.

Sitting atop the list are Brissie heroes Powderfinger, whose last Homebake appearance was in 1999. It’s sure to be a hit-heavy set, with perhaps a few new numbers in for good measure. Also taking headline honours are those Shaka Rock lads Jet, J Award contenders Hilltop Hoods and Perth exports Eskimo Joe.

Perhaps most exciting for FLers is the news that grunge kings Tumbleweed will be back in action, boasting the original line-up in full glory. Also coming back together for Homebake are jewels of the – œ90s (and honorary Mancs) The Underground Lovers, who were last sighted supporting New Order here in 2002.

The esteemed Tim Finn will play a bespoke best-of performance, alongside other antipodean favourites Sarah Blasko, Eddy Current Suppression Ring, Midnight Juggernauts and – YES KIDS – Short Stack.

Fairly generic headliners, but the undercard is fantastic - Closure, The Middle East, Phrase, Sia, Tum Funn. I'll probably be there.

I'd prefer to go and see bands like The Middle East at places like The Annandale rather than with 1000s of morons at Homebake.

im considering going, its cheap enough to get down to sydney for the weekend, festival isnt too expensive, and this is only the first lineup announcement, so more to come...

I'm happy with it. Never seen powderfinger so may as well, juggernauts, eskimo, sugar army & ECSR are all great live. I'd like to see Sia and can't WAIT for a tumbleweed reunion....
It's a fun festival, not too big & the domain is tops... I'm in..

Surprising to see no Temper Trap on that lineup. Great under card, ordinary and generic headliners, great opportunity to see something on a side stage late. Ordinary festival though, wont be getting my money.

My Lady and I were long term attendees. I have nine under my belt and she has ten.
We dropped out of the race a number of years ago and there has been little to tempt us back in recent times.

I would like to see Tumbleweed but there is nothing else there for mine.

I'm actually a little bit disappointed by the lineup (for the 5th year in a row). I love Sia and Sarah Blasko, but they're not really the Homebakey... The only other one that band that I'm keen to see is the Midnight Juggernauts. Might just wait for some sideshows.

You know guys there is a plus side to the headliners of the finger, the joe the jet and the hoods, it means less kiddies at the other stages for their headliners = D.

the weed, the undies... as someone put it, the blasko... these all make me smile, and are great tempters.. roland s. howard with mick harvey, mr finn, and the jugs are also worthy of my attention, I will be going, even if its just as good place to get drunk.

Also more to be announced is always a plus, can usually rely on at least 1 or maybe 2 worthwhile extras, so I won't whinge about the headliners, i'll go and float around the other stages all day... which i tend to do at homebake anyway! and if the mood takes me, i see no reason to not go and bounce around to the hood if i'm in the mood, they may get uber sexy love from the J's, but they aren't all that bad.

sidewinder - they did one show in sydney, for the that there this now series - with a few other aus 90's bands (big heavy stuff & kneivel)

The news section of the Homebake website... It was actually out on the 12th, no news agencies seemed to pick it up.

The news article was not even titled "2nd lineup announcement" which is why the press release (i assume there was one) got ignored. The heading was "Homebake sold out" or alike, and i think everyone knew that 2 months ago?
