After parting with long time members Shannon Birchall and Michael Barker in March this year, John Butler has announced the new members of the John Butler Trio.

Drummer Nicky Bomba of Melbourne band Bomba, who drummed on JBT’s 2004 album Sunrise Over Sea, joins the line up permanently, while Sydney’s Byron Luiters (Ray Mann Three) will be taking up bass duties for the band.

It’s been two years since JBT’s last album Grand National, and plans for a new album are already underway. The trio began recording the new LP earlier this month, with a new single likely to surface later this year.
