Leg Up: Zeahorse

Each week FasterLouder presents ‘Leg Up’ at Revolver – this week’s bill features Signet Mae, Asleep in the Park, The White Goods and Sydney noise merchants Zeahorse.

Heading south in anticipation of their debut EP release later this year, Zeahorse draw on post hardcore and grunge sounds – think Gang of Four and Fugazi – have supported Regular John, The Scare, Dukes of Windsor and Bertie Blackman with their raucous live show.

They’ve also graced the bill at the Playground Weekender and My Filthy Riot festivals and as set to warm up the stage on The Mess Hall’s August tour.

The Zeahorse gang took a moment out to answer the Leg Up Q&A:

Who are you and what sort of stuff do you play?

We are Zeahorse and we play psychedelic grunge.

When did the band form?

The band formed in 2007 up in Lismore.

Why should you be given a Leg Up?

Because we come from a long line of pirate families and we all have wooden peg legs.

What’s the biggest Leg Up you’ve had so far?

This one guy called Mr. Flame once gave us big wooden stilts, which is a pretty big leg up for some peg legged pirates.

What’s your best song to get legless to?

All of them. We encourage everyone to get legless the whole time. Mind you we don’t have many wheelchairs.

What’s your best song to get a leg over?

Is this a trick question? Aren’t we already legless??

Why should we leg it and get down to Revolver for your set?

No need to leg it, take your time and walk and enjoy your legs while you still have them.
Then loose your legs and take someone else’s home.

Zeahorse play Wednesday 1 July at Ding Dong; Friday 3 July at The Evelyn Hotel supporting Red Ink; Friday 3 July at Pony’s 2am late show; Saturday 4 July at The Espy with Fangs and The Salvages and – of course – at – œLeg Up’ at Revolver on Thursday 2 July, with Signet Mae, Asleep in the Park and The White Goods.
