While we’ll have to wait until October to hear Arcade Fire’s score for The Box (the new film from Donnie Darko creator Richard Kelly), the Montreal band has a new album in the works. Speaking to NME, frontman Win Butler confirmed they’re in the studio recording a follow-up to 2007’s lauded Neon Bible.
Given Arcade Fire’s standing on FasterLouder, this is welcome news. “None of us want to take three years making a record,” Butler tells NME in the new issue. “It could be that we’ll play live [soon] and maybe we’ll end up bashing [the new album] out fast. We’re in the middle of writing, things are coming together, it’s a great feeling.”
The art-rock troupe has been staying away from the live circuit of late, with no dates scheduled for the months ahead. However, Butler told NME Arcade Fire is keen to return the stage – hopefully with new songs in tow.
