The hedonistic anthems of The Presets have proven a hit at the 2009 APRA Music Awards, with the Sydney duo taking out the Songwriter Of The Year prize. This latest addition to their already overflowing trophy room was powered by the triple-platinum success of second album Apocalypso and its all-conquering singles. In the past two years, Songwriter Of The Year has gone to Wolfmother and Daniel Johns of Silverchair.
The other big prize on the night is Song Of The Year, which was claimed by The Living End for the rousing White Noise. Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu took home the APRA Breakthrough Songwriter Award. The APRA Awards happened at Melbourne’s Peninsula on Tuesday night – check out the photos from the event on FasterLouder.
