True to what their official fan-site revealed, Green Day will swing down under in summer for a round of arena shows. Frontier Touring has confirmed the jaunt from the Californian punks, which will take in five dates in early December.

It’s the band’s first Australian visit since 2005, when they were touting the stadium-ready anthems of American Idiot. They’re still sticking it to the man on their latest offering, the five-years-in-the-making 21st Century Breakdown. We can only expect the live show will be as big and brazen as last time.

Green Day confirmed tour dates. All shows are all-ages. Tickets on sale Wednesday 1 July.

Friday 4 December – Burswood Dome, Perth
Sunday 6 December – Adelaide Entertainment Centre
Tuesday 8 December – Brisbane Entertainment Centre
Friday 11 December – Acer Arena, Sydney
Monday 14 December – Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne

Granted, everthing after Insomniac was pretty shithouse but am I the only on that remembers growing up to Kerplunk and Dookie? Those were the days, so much angst, so few real concerns.

I also listened to Dookie a lot back in year 6 or so. Still is a good record. But after that it was all pretty meh.

You don't need to defend yourself to linesofbestfit. You are right. Despite the commercial success and some later average albums, Greenday are good: particularly when compared with other so-called punk bands.

And who cares about how many good albums they made if they made one or two cracking ones? Fuck, I can think of one punk band in particular who only made one.

let me just say: i aint comparing the two, i'm no fool. i'm just saying that in-the-day Greenday were good and had a couple of good studio albums. the sex pistols had one, and people still cream themselves over that.

No perhaps. It would have been fucking tripe. It's more than just the music. It's my favourite record because it was symbolic. They were arrogant, little wankers from broken homes who managed to fuck up everything around them.

Love everything about that album and the bands unfortunate history.
