On Monday 8 June (it’s a long weekend, remember), the first Save FBi gig goes down at The Metro Theatre. The – œSpunk Presents: Another Night On Earth’ showcase will include performances from Sarah Blasko, Jack Ladder, Firekites, New Buffalo and plenty more.
The good times continue to roll for the next couple of weeks, hopefully helping FBi get out of the red. Ahead of each fundraising show, FasterLouder will be running a quick Q&A with one of the acts on the bill. Who better to get things moving than the lovely Sarah Blasko, who has recently returned from recording a new album.
SARAH BLASKO FOR SPUNK PRESENTS: ANOTHER NIGHT ON EARTH.
What was the first song you ever taped off the radio?
One of the first was probably Love is a Battlefield by Pat Benetar.
What songs by Sydney artists would you program on a radio show if you had one?
My first picks would be Youth Group Skeleton Jar, Holly Throsby We’re Good People So Why Don’t We Show It, plus some Sui Zhen, Jack Ladder, Dappled Cities, The Devoted Few, Bluebottle Kiss, 78 Saab, theredsunband, The Mess Hall.
Where were you when you first heard a song of yours played on FBi and what (truthfully) did you do?
I think I was in a car and I turned the volume up really loud.
Why should everyone come to the gig?
It’s going to be so much fun. Too many good bands. I’m going to be playing five brand new songs live for the first time since I finished my record.
