The fly-by August visit from Phoenix has been confirmed by tour promoter Michael Coppel Presents. Sadly for most of the country, the debonair Frenchmen will indeed only be doing Melbourne and Sydney.

Phoenix let the dates slip earlier this month, before later telling Triple J they plan to return in early 2010 for a more extensive jaunt. There’s good reason for the brief itinerary this time: the band is booked at England’s Camp Bestival and Japan’s Summer Sonic on either side of the Australian sojourn. The support act at both Australian shows is local electro-pop vixen Catcall.

Phoenix play these two shows in early August. Tickets on sale Friday 29 May.

Monday August 3 – Palace Theatre, Melbourne
Wednesday August 5 – Enmore Theatre, Sydney
