Thanks to the sleuthing of an FLer (thanks andy_chalmers_102!), we now know that punk hitmakers Blink-182 are being courted by Big Day Out for next January’s tour. Speaking with Billboard, band manager Rick Devoe revealed Blink’s plans for the year ahead.
After a mammoth run of shows across America alongside Fall Out Boy and Weezer, the lads have had “offers” to play Big Day Out 2010 and other European music festivals. From the comments of their manager, it seems likely they’ll sign on the dotted line. “That’s what I’m hoping is going to happen,” Devoe told Billboard. “And in between these tours is when they’re going to be working on an album.”
Blink-182 has been on hiatus for four years, while the band members pursued other projects. Their 50-date arena tour across the US is offering options for punters feeling the financial pinch. – Ĺ“Lawn tickets’ will be made available for a flat charge of US$20.
The trio last played Big Day Out in 2000 alongside Nine Inch Nails, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Foo Fighters. It would be quite a coup to get them back a decade later. Blink-182 is the second BDO possible to crop up in the last week, with Brooklyn four-piece Grizzly Bear revealing to FL that they’ll be here in January for “a festival that moves from city to city”.
