The Residents Celebrate AnAnniversary In Australia
Wed 2nd Mar, 2005 in Local News
Sydney’s music-lovers are being gifted with a very special treat. Experimental kings The Residents have announced from deep inside their eyeball-heads that they’ll be headlining another gig on Thursday, March 10 at The Metro.
For this gig, support will be provided by Chicks On Speed, and seminal local act Severed Heads, who’re stepping back into the limelight after some time away to promote their Illustrated Family Doctor soundtrack, as well as their lengthy list of reissues. (It’s expected that the Severed Heads set will draw on their entire 25-year career.)
What makes this Residents gig particularly special is the knowledge that punters made it happen. By audience request is this show occuring, and while it was originally rumoured that it’d somehow promote the band’s new disc Animal Lovers, it’s since been revealed that the group will, in fact, be presenting an exclusive 33rd anniversary retrospective show! Segments from all – or some – of the band’s career will be mined to present a once-in-a-lifetime show that won’t be forgotten.
