Nick Cave tribute
Mon 11th May, 2009 in Local News
The Emerging Writers Festival presents Wordstock – A one-night festival of words inspired by the vast catalogue of singer, songwriter and iconic Melbournian Nick Cave.
New songs, poems, short plays and performance pieces paying tribute to Saint Nick will be released like bats at the BMW Edge Theatre, Federation Square on Thursday 28 May as part of the Emerging Writers’ Festival program.
Like Nick Cave’s own genre leaping efforts the night will ramble through work from poets, spoken word artists, stand up comedians, ranters, theatre groups, sketch comedians and even choirs to storm the stage with their new works inspired by Cave’s catalogue.
Wordstock has been curated by Josh Earl – comedian (by night), librarian (by day) – who has gathered the comedian David Quirk, poet Emilie Zoey Baker and writer / broadcaster / one time grid-girl Clem Bastow to pay homage to Cave. Other performers on the night include Sean M. Whelan, Matt Kelly, Cusser Kev, Damien Lawlor, Ben Poijbe and Will Hindmarsh.
