Triple J Hottest 100 Of AllTime

If you thought choosing your favourite songs of the year was hard, triple j is asking you to dig a lot deeper for its Hottest 100 Of All Time poll. 2009 marks the Hottest 100’s 20th Anniversary, so it’s high time to delve into the vaults.

In 1989, Joy Divison’s Love Will Tear Us Apart took out the top spot in the yearly round-up. So how have the last 20 years measured up? Will the all-time winner smell like teen spirit, Creep you out or set your sex on fire? It really is hard to know how this one will pan out.

Voting opens Monday 1 June at the Hottest 100 website, so you’ve got some time to shortlist your favourite 10 tracks of all time. The countdown begins Tuesday 7 July, with the #1 reveal on Sunday 12 July.

I know a lot of people here write this thing off from the get go, but if Sex on Fire gets in, let alone anywhere near the top 10, the list will be void of any legitimacy it might have, in my opinion.

Surprised the NME list doesnt include Paranoid Android or another appropriate Radiohead song. Having said that, I reckon that top 10 is pretty close to on the money and i guarantee it'll be better than the top 10 of the Hottest 100

I agree, Blink 182's Dammit made the 1998 list at #20, was only released in 1997...I'm sure there are other similar examples.

I dig KOL, Presets, ect. but these bands have no place in this list imo

If anything, it seemed even more important back then. But you have to listen to a decade of Bon Jovi and Poison and Bruce Springsteen to get why.
