Lock up your daughters, pharmaceutical cabinet and leather accessories: Jane’s Addiction is coming to town. It’ll be the first time since 1991 that all original members – Perry Farrell, Dave Navarro, Eric Avery and Stephen Perkins – will be here as a unit.
The band’s tumultuous reign began in 1985, with infamy secured by debut album Nothing’s Shocking. That record made them superstars but set off the cycle of drug-fuelled rivalry, woman-stealing and egomania. Basically, what rock – œn roll bands used to be like.
After two break-ups and re-formations, Jane’s Addiction has now returned to the line-up of old. The guys have teamed up with Nine Inch Nails for a US tour beginning in May, with rumours that Trent Reznor is producing their new material. It’d be a lie to say all is rosy within the ranks, but what’s wrong with a little onstage sparring? Jane’s Addiction is set to headline Splendour In The Grass, and they’re finding time for some sure-to-be-raucous sideshows.
