Nick Cave - The Exhibition

Not much comes for free these days, and especially not when FasterLouder’s forever-crush Nick Cave’s name is on the bill.

Thus we delight in announcing the Aussie cult musician has an exhibition free of charge at Terry Gould Gallery, QPAC.

With over 800 items on display, the exhibition draws from Nick Cave’s own personal collection of stuff, as well as various mementos picked out by others, such as long-time collaborator Mick Harvey.

This exhibition has some must-see historical treasures including an array of lyrics chosen exclusively by Nick Cave, as well as notebooks, diaries, manuscripts, artwork, photos, books, various other miscellaneous objects and a selection of flyers, fanzines and posters dating from the late 1970s.

“This has been a revealing and rewarding experience,” says Nick, “Much of this stuff has sat around in boxes for years and the process of ‘excavating’ it has been many things – moving, disturbing, inspiring, and downright terrifying. The curator has done an excellent job of researching and collating this material.”

Melbourne-based exhibition curator Janine Barrand says Nick’s involvement and interest in the exhibition was great, especially as he hand picked lyrics to display.

Nick Cave – The Exhibition is open now until May 9th, Tuesday to Saturday from 10am – 4pm.

We expect it will be popular, and may run into you there.
