From Darren Hanlon to all ages hardcore, FasterLouder was there to see it all this week in Canberra.

The music week started earlier than most with Darren Hanlon making a return to the capital and kicking off his national tour at his beloved Tilley’s playing to a full house. Check out our full review and pics.

Hardcore Byron Bay boys 50 Lions played an all ages gig at Tuggeranong Youth Centre on Friday night to the delight of Canberra’s burgeoning hardcore/metal scene. In what could be described as scenes from a secret boys punk club this was a night to remember, check out our review and pics.

After talking up how great it is to come to Canberra, the Purple Sneakers crew proved they meant it on Friday night at Transit Bar when they once again ripped the place up and entertained the heaving crowd well into the early hours of Saturday. This was The Trivs debut on the decks, if you missed it, check out the pics!

This week it was Shakedown with a twist as bands took to the ‘stage’ prior to the usual indie dance DJ night. This proved to be a huge success, keep your eyes peeled for more regular gigs at Bar 32 on Saturday nights.

It’s that time of the month again for the wonderful Birds Love Fighting crew to get an eclectic bunch of bands together and bring us Gangbusters. Check it out this Thursday night at Bar 32 for just $5.

On Friday night head to The Front to catch Blue Mountains folk singer CJ Shaw who will be joined by his Canberra band. Gold coin donation at the door.

Also this week hardcore/metal festival Havoc 2009 at The Basement sees the likes of Lamexcuse, Grand Fatal, The Royals and a swarm of others take to the stage.

On a quieter note folk singer extraordinaire Luka Bloom will be playing Tilley’s two nights in a row at the weekend which is a lovely lead up to the
National Folk Festival taking over Canberra over Easter. Pre-sale tickets are sold out but there will be plenty of tickets on the gate each day.
