Local hip hop acts will be coming out for fundraising festival extravaganza Support The Fort!

The line-up will include The Grassroots Street Orchestra, whose fusion of roots and hip hop give new meaning to the word “synergy’’. With frontmen MC Surreal bringing verse that is flawless on the cordless, Steve Wallis with the smooth grooves, and the rest of the orchestra adding their own influences to the mix, this band is certainly a force. Grassroots are working on their EP at the moment and it will be released this year, so expect lots of fresh new material to be churned out at The Fort’s debut event.

Mr Laneous and the Family Yah are also on the bill. Just recently finished with a stint in Melbourne, the band are feeling fresh and their performances lately have been more energised and upbeat. Mr Laneous is a great talent, with a great voice, great lyrics and great raps. His ability to climb precariously-placed stereo equipment must also be mentioned, the set often including him monkeying around barefoot on the jungle gym that is expensive instruments.

Along with The Kelly Gang- another great Brisbane rap band whose performance at Woodford impressed more than the hip hop fanatics- these stellar music acts make up the headliners.

Special guests include Rainman and Samedi Sound System. So really, this makes for a rather massive night.

The event, on April 3, will start early at 7:30pm and tickets range from $10-15 depending if you’re a student or member of 4ZZZ or not. Alternatively, for $25 you can be a ‘Friend of The Fort’ and receive ongoing benefits including free entry to this event. Don’t miss this.
