With no tour yet clocked up, local upstarts Empire of the Sun – aka Nick Littlemore of Pnau and Luke Steele of The Sleepy Jackson – have confirmed they will indeed hit the road for live shows this year. To date Empire of the Sun had remained a studio project only, so the news they’ll be taking it into the live realm will no doubt excite fans of their acclaimed debut Walking On A Dream.

The band have been getting a whole lot of exposure in the UK of late, with The Sun espousing their album as “Spectacular… Fleetwood Mac playing with MGMT on stage with Prince.” Closer to home, their album has now gone platinum, meaning it’s sold over 70,000 copies. Their label issued a press release talking up the achievement, also hinting at the forthcoming tour. “Australian fans should stay tuned for an announcement of live shows later in the year.”
