Last night at Sydney’s Oxford Art Factory, Brisbane punk whirlwind Villains Of Wilhelm was named the winner of Garage2V 2009. The band went up against strong competition from the other state finalists: Le Kingste (NSW), clubfeet (Victoria), Shock! Horror! (WA) and wildcard entry The Scotch Of Saint James (WA).
The crammed venue witnessed some stellar performances (not least from special guest Children Collide), but the Villains romped home with a rollicking, unhinged set. The Brissie boys have won themselves a spot on the national V Festival tour, sharing the mainstage with The Killers, Kaiser Chiefs and Razorlight. All state finalists will play V Festival in their hometown on the Virgin Mobile stage, so be sure to turn out to cheer them on.
