From 26 May to 14 June, the inaugural Luminous Festival will take over the Sydney Opera House with “a plethora of music acts, alongside public talks and spectacular light and art installations”. The event is curated by none other than Brian Eno, and will feature marquee performances from Battles, Ladytron, Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, Damien Dempsey, Reggie Watts, Underworld frontman Karl Hyde and many more.

Luminous is launching as part of Vivid Sydney, a city-wide mid-year festival. The gigs will happen in the Opera House’s iconic music spaces: the Opera Theatre, Playhouse and Utzon Room. Eno will close the festival with PURE SCENIUS, a collaborative performance featuring Leo Abrahams and Karl Hyde. I'm a fan of Ladytron, but I have to say, my one experience of seeing them live sucked.

Don't know if it was the venue, the band or all of the above.

Yeah, I enjoyed the Ladytron gig in Sydney, but you can't expect much enthusiasm from them. But I kind of like that. It suits. I'd enjoy them in the Opera Theatre.

Yeah I heard this all round from all the shows last year... disappointing I guess, mix of short set + bad sound?

The GF has fallen in love with them over the last month, it's actually all quite disturbing. Tickets go on sale in about 8 hours to a Death Cab gig at Berkeley. The supports are Andrew Bird and Ra Ra Riot and that is the stuff that dreams are made of. I would blow my load if I hadn't already done it 100 times this morning after buying tickets to the Explosions in the Sky 10th Aniversary gig. 26 aussie dollars...

I was looking at there website by chance and noticed a blurb about special 10th aniversary shows to be played in a few major cities. I am just lucky that I will be in LA at the time.
