Fasterlouder February

The shortest month of the year has proven to be packed so full of goodies that there is only space to give you the highlights. With festival season in full swing, the FL crew has had our eyes and ears full, here’s what we loved the most:
The final Big Day Out of 09 caused a storm of controversy after the tragic death of a teenager was blamed on sniffer dogs at the entrance. You can read the forum firefight here This tragedy aside, check out shanebutler’s gallery to see what else went on that day.
Hot on the heels of the BDO, Laneway made its first appearance in Perth, and everyone agreed that the Perth Cultural Centre was an excellent choice for this more boutique festival. We gave you three reviews to choose from, jeifer’s is our favourite, and one giant gallery to let you see just how impressed we were with the event, and we’re looking forward to being a part of it all again next year.
Rock Princess was shocked and amazed when Tomas Ford licked her boyfriend at his gig with the Voltaire Twins at the Norfolk Basement, and digitaljunglist was overawed at the spectacle of Primal Scream snapping this gallery to show you how.
The Streets’ last tour had some eyes in need of drying, as frog_e reports and Stu907’s gallery will put you in the picture even if you’re not fit to read her words. We reckon Skinner’ll be back though, he’s become a hero after all.
The metal lovers weren’t left wanting with Bezerker and The Amenta working the Railway. We sent along our beloved goatlady to translate the event, and rookie shooter matthewtompsett submitted one great album for your pleasure.
We popped into Rocket Room’s Late Night Live after midnight to catch this drunken revelry, Sharpshooter shared her thoughts about Fall Out Boy, while Mojojay searched in vain for some punters over 18 to include in the gallery..
The Perth International Arts Festival opened this month, serving up a plethora of musical treats at Becks Music Box, Some of the most surprising, and entertaining acts included The Triffids, House of the Holy Afro and of Montreal which even enticed Antzpantz out of his box and into PIAF’s to shoot us this gallery
Rocket To Memphis’ Voodoo Jamboree album and tour launch introduced us to a couple of new contributors, Joanap and tterb whose work you can expect to see more of in the coming months.
Resident moshpit punching bag Squagz had this experience of Propaghandi and if you don’t believe him, gusto has the pictures to prove it.
True to our love for all things local, we sent Rock Princess out to the Vice Chancellors EP launch with the rookie boy wonder tagging along for the view. We also have galleries from These Shipwrecks CD launch, and the Bushfire Benefit which sold out the Bakery raising some much needed funds to help our stricken Adelaide brethren.
And of course, how could we fail to mention Coldplay? digitaljunglist was most impressed with the night. From all reports, it was a great show, Unfortunately, we only have this small gallery to show you. Our shooter was marched in and out by the promoter, not permitted to photograph the support act, or even stay to enjoy the rest of the concert after the three songs, in return for his time and skills behind the camera. When they are treated this way, it’s a wonder that shooters offer their time to cover bands at all.
The music doesn’t look like slowing down any time soon, especially on the local front, we’ll keep bringing the fun to your computer screens so you don’t feel like you’re missing out.
