Powderfinger headline Fire &Flood Charity Benefit
Fri 20th Feb, 2009 in Local News
Australia is a land of extremes. At no time moreso than right now as the country comes to terms with the devastation and loss of the Victorian fires and yet another influx of debilatating and isolating floodwaters are mopped up in north Queensland.
It’s during these times that we unite to lend a hand and that’s just what a group of Brisbane’s best musicians are going to do.
The Fire & Flood Charity Concert is an inspirational event coordinated by Secret Service to show support, build morale and raise much needed funds for those affected by these tragedies.
Some of this city’s biggest and brightest are onboard, with Powerfinger downing tools on their new album to join friends The Grates, Robert Forster, The John Steel Singers, The Boat People and Dan Parsons on stage at The Tivoli on March 6.
“The generosity of the public all over the country has been incredible. I suppose when faced with situations like this you do whatever you can,” comments Powderfinger’s Bernard Fanning. “We can play rock and roll and be mildly entertaining so we thought people might be up for further donations in the form of a ticket to a show.”
Profits raised will be donated evenly across The Red Cross Victorian Bushfire Appeal and The Queensland Premier’s Disaster Relief Appeal.
