There’s been plenty of debate out there about the quality of the V Festival line-up, but this new injection of acts should silence most critics. Whereas in past years we’ve had The Pixies, Pet Shop Boys and Jesus and Mary Chain, it seemed this would be the first edition without a blast from the past. How wrong we were.

Leading the second round are ska godfathers Madness and synth-pop trendsetters The Human League, who’ll be performing seminal 1981 album Dare in its entirety. True to FasterLouder’s prediction, The Kills have also joined the line-up, alongside M83, Jenny Lewis, Jackson Jackson and Howling Bells. Beefing up the local contingent are two of our brightest lights: Wolf & Cub and Children Collide.
