CHECK OUT THE 2010 GROOVIN THE MOO LINE-UP HERE.

Disproving the theory that only the big cities see live music action, Groovin The Moo returns in 2009 with a heavyweight line-up. The travelling festival will stop in Townsville, Maitland and Bendigo to soak up some “country hospitality”. Atop the bill are seasoned crowd-pleasers The Living End, The Grates and Hilltop Hoods.

The international guest-list includes party hip hop icons De La Soul, plus Okkervil River, Ratatat, Christer, The Twelves and Nextmen (Townsville only). Keeping the kids dancing will be Architecture In Helsinki and Muscles in a “live DJ set with special guests”. The country life ain’t what it used to be.

2 May – Lou Litster Park, Townsville
9 May – Maitland Showground, Maitland
16 May – Prince of Wales Showground, Bendigo

Okkervil River played a great show in Melbourne last year at that festival that cannot be named. To stick them with Hilltop Hoods and Little Birdy (both who'd be playing new stuff), Art vs. Science and The Drones would be enough to get me to drive to Bendigo.

To be fair though Jimbob, I dont recall a single Groovin the Moo lineup that you would have thought was good, so how can a festival that I would imagine you would see as sub par already, increasingly disappoint you?

Yeah I know man, I'm not worried about smaller local bands playing because it's obviously great exposure for them. It's just that we don't need to see Jason Mraz, Black Keys, Gomez, Okkervil River over and over again. (all of those dudes being here a lot lately).
But then again: get a safe bet for a festival = money for the promoters
Get obscure dudes = festival doesn't sell and gets cancelled

It's a shite state of affairs Tommy and all the fresh air in the world won't make a fucking difference!

It's only an hour and forty-five on the train/road from Melbs, $15 vline ticket... well worth it! Also, there's info up on the site - $85+bf from Memory, also well worth it in my opinion.

I have never, EVER been so happy (or particularly happy at all) to be from Bendigo! Huzzah! :D

Nah, I live in Melbourne.
I lived in Bendigo for 4 years over VCE/Uni... in town.
I've got friends and family all over Bendigo.
A couple have just lost their houses in the bushfires actually :(

my grandmother lived across the road from La Trobe uni, so we went there heaps growing up. she died a couple of years ago though. i've got cousins who live in Golden Square and Kangaroo Flat, but don't see them anymore.

I went to Dogbite, it was only $15 = P Grinspoon were there not long after being unearthed. Magic Dirt (when they were good...pre pop), Mark of Cain and some others. it was alright :)

My sole Mark Of Cain memory is driving down the road with Degenerate Boy turned up really loud, and my friend asking "Is this as loud as it goes?"
"No."
Then he reached over and jammed it up to full volume and we rocked out down the road.

Never got an album, figured nothing could be as good as that song.
