As the capital winds down and punters increasingly head interstate for all the festival glory of the big smoke, Canberra continued to put it on this past week.

The highlight of the week was FasterLouder’s own Christmas party: the Holiday Ho Down held at our fav little night spot Bar 32. All that needs to be said is, if you weren’t there you missed out. It was messy, it was loose, it was full of debauchery and we hope you can make it next year! Not only did we hook you up with free booze all night long we managed to pull some favours and bring you some of our favourite Canberra bands. Variodivers, The Cherry Marines, The Magic Hands and Using Three Words all gave us amazing performances in the hot and sweaty comfort of Bar 32.

In other news this week, The Big O Festival has been announced due to rock Australian universities in O Week next year. Not to be out done by Lexington’s O In The Park, the ANU will be hosting The Big O on Tuesday 3 March. Definitely a day to take off from work for those of us not lucky enough to still be students. The festival is bringing some mighty big names to the capital including The Music and The Fratellis as well as everyone’s favourite indie-pop boy Ben Lee, Bluejuice, Yves Klein Blue and Cassette Kids. This is sure to be a mighty good day at ANU. Stay tuned for more details.

There are still a few more good shows left in the year so be sure to catch Calling All Cars this Wednesday and The Fauves on Thursday both at Transit Bar. Of course you can catch all your usual indie dance favourites at REV and Shakedown for some weekend fun.

Next week marks Casual Projects last show in the capital for the year so be sure to head out to Transit on Christmas Eve to catch the boys along with mates D’Opus & Roshambo for Seasonal Beats.

Merry Christmas everyone, enjoy your music and the FasterLouder crew will see you about and about in January!
