Dude, The Violent Femmes AreComing! Awesome!
Thu 20th Jan, 2005 in Local News
There are few bands I love as much as The Violent Femmes, seriously. It’s a rare week when I don’t listen to their self-titled debut album, which is universally renowned as being incredibly fucking amazing. Think Blister In The Sun, Kiss Off and Add It Up. If you don’t own that album, you were officially never a teenager. In fact, you’re probably a robot or a mutant or a mutant robot or something. But that’s your problem.
I don’t want to think about mutant robots. I want to think about the fact that I’m going to see the Femmes again! Yes, they’re coming to Australia, and by the sounds of it they’re ready to rock. I saw them last time they hit our shores in 2003 – with my mum no less, who loves them too – and they were one of the better bands I’ve ever seen. I’ll never forget hearing a good couple of thousand people at the Metro in Sydney singing along to Blister In The Sun like their lives depended on it. Spectacular.
Go and see them, and if they don’t rock your socks off, I’ll send you money for your ticket. I mean that figuratively, of course, because I’m a uni student and am hence totally poor, but at least my heart is in the right place, right?
Now stop thinking I’m a nerd for seeing awesome bands with my mum, and check out this huge list of tour dates:

Thursday 10th March: Sydney, Macquarie University Atrium

God, that was a long list, wasn’t it? I mean, they’re playing Tasmania. That’s so awesome. I’m going to get my driver’s license just so I can drive around seeing all their shows.
