Two of Laneway Festival’s most exciting bookings are pooling their powers for sideshows in Sydney and Melbourne. Both Jay Reatard and No Age have helped make music more interesting in the past few years, both with genre-warping releases and inimitable live shows.
No Age’s Nouns was an early contender for album of the year, cementing the duo’s position as one of the prize acts on Sub Pop Records. They’ve made a habit of playing unconventional shows: rallying crowds on the banks of Los Angeles River, in an Ethiopian restaurant and amongst the books at the Los Angeles Central Library. One-man whirlwind Jay Reatard is equally adept at doing things his own way – something he reminded us of at Golden Plains this year. His manic live show requires your commitment, but the pay-off is oh so sweet.
No Age and Jay Reatard take time out from the Laneway Festival tour to play these shows in January. Tickets on sale Friday 28 November.
Thursday 29 – The Gaelic Club, Sydney
Friday 30 – The Corner Hotel, Melbourne
