Get your Stocking Stuffed!
Mon 17th Nov, 2008 in Local News
Stuff The Stocking is an annual live music event raising awareness, funds and collecting necessary resources for a chosen charity. In 2008, Mission Australia’s Nightspot program will benefit from the Brisbane and Melbourne events, while local food relief services in Rockhampton will be the beneficiaries of that local event.
The events are coordinated by young people in each city – they choose and book the bands, they design the promotional material, they source sponsors, they work with council to ensure they are meeting their civil and legal responsibilities, they are involved in a variety of roles on the day and at the end of the day they evaluate each event.
The Brisbane event will take place on Saturday 29 November, and will consist of two stages: The Main Stage, which will be situated at Redacliffe Square at the top of Queen Street Mall, and The Hive Stage, which is hosted by The Hive at 161 Elizabeth Street.
The main stage bands include The Paper and the Plane, Repeat Offender, Winnie Coopers, Hey: Carlisle, Finabah, Don’t Come Monday, Dextors Conscience, The Rocketsmiths, and The Gift Horse.
Meanwhile, The Hive stage will feature Dan Parsons, Steve Grady, Erin Louise, Luke Dalton, Cometowherethecarpetstops, Jake Wood, Bernie Carson, and Megan Howell.
Entry is via a donation, with all proceeds going to charity. And if you can’t make the show, stay tuned to FasterLouder for coverage.
