A note on The Vines’ website for Perth fans on Monday apologises for the last minute cancellation of the Rosemount gig stating that Craig Nicholls’ flight related anxiety had recurred, and that he wasn’t able to travel from Adelaide to Perth.

Following this blow to Perth fans, a second announcement informs us that The Vines have now cancelled their Japanese tour, and will not be playing at Homebake, Pyramid Rock or the Big Day Out due to a rapid deterioration in Nicholls’ mental condition which will require help over an extended period of time.

“On behalf of The Vines we would like to extend our sincerest apologies to those of you who have bought tickets to see us perform and will not get to do so” said Hamish. “We are all absolutely devastated that we’ve been forced to cancel all upcoming shows as there’s nothing we love more than playing on stage before an enthusiastic audience. We ask for your understanding in this situation”

Aside from sincere apologies from the rest of the band, and thanks to management and promoters for their understanding, The final word on the matter is a plea from Nicholls’ family that sensitivity be shown at this difficult time, and that this statement be accepted as their only comment.

Check out Craig raging in all his glory at their last show in Adelaide.

Okay all I'm saying is; you cannot have an opinion on how they have recently played if you have not been to any recent gigs. One, you have nothing that backs you up and two, it just shows that you will say anything to put down the Vines, ultimately making you petty and dim-witted.

I was at The Vines gig in Adelaide, and I'll be honest, I was not expecting them to be as good as they were. I met Craig before hand and he was incredibly spaced out but extremely nice. So with that, I was expecting them to do a sloppy performance and was instead blown away with an outstanding show. Craig sang so well, so no he did not sound like a fucking dying animal..you stupid little man. It was enough to turn my sister into a Vines fan who came just for my sake. She was so impressed and she doesn't even like their kind of music, which has now changed obviously.

I even admit that in the past their performances, and Craig's singing abilities haven't been the best, although somewhat entertaining, that's why I love them. Anyway my point is they did an amazing and incredibly entertaining show, so anyone who was not there, and has a uneducated opinion (because quite frankly that's what it is) about their latest performances should think before they post offending and stupid comments.

MELODIA IS one of their better albums. It's much more diverse than the previous albums; it has more songs, catchy tunes, great arrangements and is like nothing else that you hear these days.

Talk shit about The Vines without anything to back yourself up with and I will go on for days.

If you are the example of the general Vines fan I think it is best that they do a service to us all and retire from music. Before anymore of you spring up and decide to enter a debate. Actually they should compose an apology too.

Nobody is denying that Highly Evolved was a great album and Winning Days was a decent follow up, but they were dumped from their label for a reason.
The signal of impending doom for me would be the fact that The Vines were in such bad shape that Pat thought he'd be better off making music with Youth Group, the horror of it all.
