Riddle me this: What music event has a killer line-up, runs for 12 hours, is an all ages annual event, comes after Stonefest and covers all genres of activities? Trackside!

That’s right, quickly approaching is another edition of the grand festival that never disappoints in its line-up, its activities and its celebration. Just when you thought it couldn’t get better after last year’s stellar line-up…it has with a bandwagon so full of glitz and glamour it’ll have to turn into a truck in order to get here.

Headlining the main stage this year are veteran rock gods and ARIA Award winners The Living End, and judging from past performances will not be one to miss! Also spearheading the line-up will be Perth highnesses Gyroscope. If their riveting gig at the ANU in September holds up as substantial evidence for a true rock experience, than there is no doubting how much they will blow us away during their set.

Before we overwhelm ourselves with the rock icons listed above we have British India, Something With Numbers, The Getaway Plan, Bluejuice, Little Red, The Panics and Sparkadia to get our inner flames burning. Also appearing on that very stage will be Canberra’s very own homegrown stars Hancock Basement who won the Triple J Unearthed competition to play at the festival last month. Be sure to check them out Canberra!

If rock isn’t your isn’t your mojo then you can break it down with Grafton Primary, Cut Copy, Bliss N Eso and Muph & Plutonic.

However if dance is all you desire then there will be a separate dance arena where Soft Tiger DJs, Will Styles (Funktrust DJs) and Canberra’s very own D’Opus & Roshambo

Still stuck? Then there will be a separate comedy tent where you’ll be sure to trip over your feet laughing with Sam Simmons from Triple J, The Bedroom Philosopher (Justin Heazlewood), Matthew Kenneally, Jay Sullivan and Tom Gibson.

If you are still stuck on what you want or what to do then, one: Why? Two: fear not! Because there will be other amusements set up so you can (obviously) amuse yourself with like PMA Wrestling, carnival rides, outdoor cinema, market stalls, International food fair and much more. Therefore if you are not there for any reason, One: Why? Two: Why not? Three: Because? Four: Trackside has every activity and all tastes covered so again why not go?

To add to the four good reasons above, a majority of the acts on the line-up this year have been to Canberra at least once this year and they are now coming back to the nation’s capital at the end of the year for an early new year’s party to celebrate all that has been 2008. Acts including Gyroscope, The Panics, The Getaway Plan, Sparkadia, Muph & Plutonic, Bluejuice, Grafton Primary and Little Red have all had shows in Canberra this year and are now concluding 2008 with a bang in the nation’s capital (what better place to do it).

You get the idea by now, DON’T MISS IT!
