Streetlight Are Back
Wed 12th Nov, 2008 in Local News
Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last few years, you would have seen Streetlight a time or ten. They were everywhere after they won the Next Big Thing competition in 2006, but they have been fairly quiet this year until recently. After violinist Rachel left in July, the boys presumably had trouble finding their socks without a female influence in the band… or perhaps they were busy writing and recording their next EP.
The loss of a violin makes a huge change to the sound of a band and the way songs are written, so there must have been some regrouping necessary before recording. What they have come up with is a deeper, bolder sound, developing their melodies, both vocal and instrumental, to fill the hole left by the absent violin.
Wolfnotes was recorded at Dave Parkins’ studio and is due for release this Saturday at Amplifier. Following the November 15th Launch, they will hook up with the Novocaines and head down to the Railway Hotel next Friday, and the Prince of Wales next Saturday to see how far they can stretch an EP release party.
The title track was Drum’s single of the week last week, and the first single, Red Sunrise has tasted a bit of airplay on the national broadcaster, and even has a video clip to go with it which you can find on youtube. But be warned, it will get stuck in your head.
Supporting their launch at Amplifier will be Harlequin League, Rubies & Rumours and Blackmilk, and they finally have some T-shirts for their merch stand!
Dates:
Saturday November 15 Amplifier Bar, Perth
Friday November 21 Railway Hotel, Fremantle
Saturday 22 November Prince of Wales Hotel, Bunbury
