Here’s the January programme!

Monday 10th January – Matinee Double Feature
The Sex Killer
(1967)
Exited after his successful date with a mannequin head yes you heard me right the first time a mannequin head, lonely Tony switches from being a peeping tom to becoming The Sex Killer and blissfully stalks Manhattan looking for ladies to strangle. One of the most demented skinflicks of the 60’s. Sex Killer is so hilariously odd as to be downright surreal.

The Love Cult (1966)
The tag line was join the club and die!The Great Eric, a down on his luck hypnotist, sees a preacher on the TV and finds divine inspiration. “I’ll create a cult (there’s an original idea)! A LOVE CULT! Give them a religion with a pay off.” Changing his name to Brother Eros (can you guess what path this is going to go down), he sets up a shop in a suburban community and preaches the gospel of love to a congregation of mostly busty young ladies who are hypnotised into giving up there bodies as well as their worldly goods. Enter the rich nymphomaniac looking for kicks. She offers the cult one of her home as a “Temple of Love,” Eros labels her “Pigeon of the Year” and quickly converts most of her mansion into “Rooms of Worship”. As you would expect things quickly go bad when all that free-lovin’ inevitably leads to violence. “See the hell they would give me in return for the Heaven I promised them!” Offbeat, often witty, and frighteningly prescient, The Love Cult was made years before Jim Jones, David Koresh, or Charles Manson ever hit the headlines ANNANDALE HOTEL 7:30pm donation.

Monday 17th January – Matinee Double Feature
The Choppers
(1961)
Five car stripping psychos are The Choppers, teenage boys who reduced unattended autos to rubble and sell the parts to greedy salvage king Big Moose(Bruno Vesota). When an insurance investigator discovers a significant clue as to the gang’s identity, a chicken feather then its not long before the cops start to close in. Starring Arch Hall, Jr. as “Cruiser” a rich kid gone bad and produced by Hall Sr. The Choppers was the first of their quirky father and son film collaborations. It also features Marianne Gaba, Playboy’s glamorous “Miss September 1959.

Bowaga Bowanga (1951)
Look out boys, the Ulama are loose. The legendary “White Sirens of Africa” a tribe of fifties-era glamour girls who look like strippers in animal skins (unfortunately extinct today). They capture 3 male explores who foolishly invade their secret plateau. Seeking a suitable husband the Queen makes the guys fight the toughest gal amongst them. “Fire God take week men! Queen take strong men!” But the other women object – “She no burn nice men! We get husbands too!” and a tribal catfight quickly erupts. A mad mix of stock footage and cheesecake, Bowanga, Bowanga is an utterly hilarious jungle style Battle of the Sexes. ANNANDALE HOTEL, 7:30pm. Donation.

Monday 24th January
Beast of Blood
(1970)
The most successful film in the Blood Island series features the most hideous monster in celluloid history. You’ll lose your head watching it!” A ship returning to Blood Island catches fire and explodes after its crew is slaughtered by the half dead creature of Green Blood. This is the shock-filled sequel to The Mad Doctor of Blood Island. This time John Ashley journeys to the forbidden valley of doom where he finds all of the hideous creatures from Dr. Lorca’s failed experiments. He has to fight his way out as he treks to the hidden cave where the evil doctor has his headless wonder. There in a final confrontation the last of Lorca is played out. Annandale Hotel 7.30 Donation

Monday 31st January
Martin
(1977)
It’s too disturbing, bleak and personal to have been a financial hit even at midnight showings. John Amplas stars as Martin, a shy and severely confused 18 year old “vampire” living with relatives in a dying Pennsylvania steel town. His elderly cousin believes he is a “Nosferatu” and tries to destroy him with crosses and garlic. The old man’s defenses merely irritate Martin, a strictly modern sexual psycho who uses razor blades and syringes to drain the blood from his female victims. Romero appears as an ineffectual priest and make up artist Tom Savini, plays the fiancé of Martin’s cousin. One inspired touch has Martin becoming a regular on an all night phone in radio show he calls in to talk about his problems. ANNANDALE HOTEL, 7:30pm. Donation.
