Bon Iver invites Australia in
Thu 6th Nov, 2008 in Local News
The first month of 2009 is looking like a tough act to follow, with news that the beguiling Bon Iver will spend summer in our company.
Conceptualised by indie-folk man Justin Vernon, Bon Iver earned near unanimous praise for its debut album For Emma, Forever Ago. The record was recorded over a long North Wisconsin winter in an isolated cabin, lending it its meditative mood.
In January, we’ll get the chance to see if For Emma, Forever Ago translates to an equally intimate and affecting live performance. The band is set to do a run of dates as part of Sydney Festival, preceded by theatre shows in Perth, Brisbane, Melbourne.
Bon Iver plays these dates in January, with tickets on sale Friday 14 November.
Thursday 15 – Fly By Night, Perth
Saturday 17 – The Tivoli, Brisbane
Sunday 18 January – The Hi-Fi, Melbourne
Monday 19 January – Forum Theatre, Melbourne
Tuesday 20 + Thursday 22 + Friday 23 January – The Famous Spiegeltent
Wednesday 21 January – City Recital Hall, Angel Place
