With five massive shows in under a week, metal gods Slipknot have left Australia battered, bruised and begging for more. Kicking off their path of destruction in Brisbane, the masked men went out with a bang last night in Perth.
The Slipknot stage set-up delivered everything that was promised – hydraulic drums, percussion rigs, pyrotechnics and sinister outfits. The overwhelming praise, though, was for the showmanship of the nine players. In the words of our Brisbane reviewer, “The band members are compelling and engaging actors who’re uniformly dedicated to their craft.”
And what a head-caving craft it is. Every show was as brutal as the last, with pummelling takes on The Heretic Anthem, Prosthetics, People = Shit and more. Also unrelenting in the support slot was Machine Head, who ensured the mosh-pit was heaving well before the headliner appeared.
FasterLouder was on the ground at each stop, so here’s where you can do the all-important compare and contrast. Till next time, maggots.
