The One Movement Festival was launched last night by Hon. Dr Elizabeth Constable MLA, and a host of industry types schmoozed with each other, listened to Tame Impala and Jordy James, and heard via live link to London’ MUSEXPO about the plans and hopes for a new global festival.
One Movement is an international music event that will unite industry professionals in music, media and technology to showcase emerging music talent from around the world. The event will be based in Perth, and will run from October 16-18 2009. Artist-Industry-Fan United is aimed at helping musos, media and promoters adapt to the changing global music scene.
Some of the names involved in the event include Tommy Ramone, Seymour Stein (co-founder Sire Records, Vice President Warner Bros. Records), Harvey Goldsmith, Richard Kingsmill (Triple J), Steve Schnur (Worldwide Head of Music, EA Games) as well as event partners Chugg and Sunset.
What better place to hold such an event than the city that spawned many of the country’s current leading acts? From Eskimo Joe to John Butler Trio, Snowman, Little Birdy, Bob Evans, Birds of Tokyo, the Panics, the Waifs, the Sleepy Jackson, End of Fashion, Jebediah and Gyroscope. Showcased at the festival will be over 50 bands who will be rubbing shoulders with a bunch of talent finders, record producers, media and other people bands need to get themselves out on the global stage.
We’re keeping our ears to the ground, and will let you know as more info arrives, and if you’re in a band, how you might be able to get in on the event.
