The Waifs Tour with AniDiFranco
Mon 27th Oct, 2008 in Local News
The founding artists of Australia’s indie music scene, The Waifs will be touring again this summer, with Ani DiFranco and band along for the ride.
True to form, The Waifs will be visiting far flung corners of the state, from Geraldton to their home town of Albany, stopping in Freo, Mandurah and Margaret River along the way.
On this tour, they will be letting the fans write the set lists, all you need to do is go to the website and email them your wish list. The songs with the highest nominations will make the short list… and the set list.
The Waifs’ career has spanned 20 years, and their most recent album, Sun Dirt Water has just gone platinum as well, proving that you don’t have to sign to a major label to be successful musicians in Australia.
Ani Di Franco did the same thing in America, starting her own label rather than release her music on someone else’s terms. DiFranco has a new album out this year as well, Red Letter Year and this time it is an epic that has taken two years to craft.
Joining forces, they’ll be spreading the good indie vibe around the state, and they’ll have Freo locals Mama Kin along who will no doubt learn a thing or two before their time is done.
