Having hinted to FasterLouder that they’d be here early next year, punk-rock roughnecks Rise Against have announced five mammoth shows for March 2009 alongside The (International) Noise Conspiracy.

“I think we’ve really accomplished a progressive sound,” the band told FL, “and we’d never want to re-hash our old material – Ĺ“cause that’s just short-changing the fans.” Appeal To Reason, the fifth studio album from Rise Against, is sure to leave fans anything but short-changed. It’s a big, ballsy juggernaut, bristling with political fervour. Their live show is no less rousing, as witnessed in 2007 on the Taste Of Chaos Australia tour.

Making this a true double-bill is The (International) Noise Conspiracy, gracing us with their presence for the first time in three years. They’re sure to prove the perfect foil to Rise Against, while local supports Miles Away (in Perth), A Death In The Family (in Melbourne and Adelaide), 50 Lions (in Sydney) and Bad Day Down (in Brisbane) round things out powerfully.

Rise Against and The (International) Noise Conspiracy will raise the roof at the following venues in March. Tickets on sale Friday 24 October.

Tuesday 24 – Metro City, Perth (18+)

Wednesday 25 – Thebarton Theatre, Adelaide (All Ages)

Friday 27 – Festival Hall, Melbourne (All Ages)

Saturday 28 – Hordern Pavilion, Sydney (All Ages)

Sunday 29 – The Tivoli, Brisbane (All Ages)

It'll be interesting to read the review of the Hordern gig.. Here is my brief take on it

50 Lions, played to a half filled room, and a fairly disinterested crown, but there was some love for them up the front of the room. Pretty good sound for a first support.

TINC, room quite full, but the dickhead factor in the crowd was at an all time high. This wasn't the normal fat wreck crowd, being an all ages gig the crowd was quite young, and had a bogan and surfer feel to it also. Young emo girls were accosted a few times that I saw for their odd hair etc by big douche guys (normally older - late20s?) TINC were abused by a lot of people up the front who wanted Rise against on, to the point that Dennis had to stop various songs to placate the crowd, or abuse more vocal members. Bottles were thrown, more abuse was hurled, and Dennis spent as much time abusing a few idiot members of teh crowd as he did sing.
The crowd was disinterested in the for the most part, with chatter being heard over the fairly low volumed music. It was disappointing because they were easily going to outclass Rise against at their own show. plenty of energy, pitch perfect voice from Dennis, musicianship was excellent from all fronts. Really made me angry at the disrespect the sydney crowds show support bands.

Rise against - first song was Drones, probably my favourite of theirs. the vocals were definitely the most prominant, although I was able to talk at normal level and still be heard by anyone around. The guitar bass and drum mix was so horrible you couldn't distinguish them, so the only reason you could tell what the song was was by the lyrics that came whispered out of the system.

I walked out after 2.5 songs of Rise Against. Sydney crowd, horrible mix, and them being completely outclassed by TINC meant I wasn't going to get into it any further. I'd be interested to see if improved any after I left. Oh and having V fest on meant roads were closed and it took me half an hour to drive out of the moore park area. Lame.

went to the tivoli show last night, was fucking mental as, the most intense and crazy mosh pit i've ever been in.

Bad day down - supposedly final show for them, played a half hour set of good punk rock but the crowd didnt really get into it, a few bobbing heads up the front and a 5 man ''circle pit'' for the final song but really it was just a couple of bogans jumping around. all in all though an enjoyable support

T(I)NC - havent heard much from them before but man they delievered and then some. play good solid live music and one of the more energetic bands ive seen, especially dennis the singer, what a crazy motherfucker. came out dressed as a purple jesus type figure at one stage, did a crowd walk and used my shoulder to step out into the crowd, followed by heading up onto the tivoli balcony to finish a song. 2 bogan fuckwits next to me continuously gave them the finger and hurled abused but he put them in their place by saying that one day they'd be sorry coz they'd wake up with his cock in their mouths lololol. a very very good live band with a very energetic show, top notch support.

RA - fucking crazy show. i found them really really enjoyable and i thought they sounded pretty great live. their was only really sound/mixing problems for the first 2 or 3 songs but after 'ready to fall' struck it was smooth sailing and that song was also great. went absolutely mental for songs like 'state of the union', 're-education', 'prayer of the refugee' and especially 'like the angels'. had an absolutely fantastic time at the gig and am still recovering with massive bruises on my back, shoulders and one on my cheek from a stray fist haha. but yeah, just couldnt rave enough about how much of an overall fun show it was and just how great rise against were :)
