Fans of The Mountain Goats let out a collective groan when the band’s April 2008 tour was called off. There was, of course, good reason for the cancellation. Frontman John Darnielle developed a nasty case of tinnitus, making him unable to do anything except recover in a sound-proof box (we imagine).
However, these are men true to their word, so in December a healthy Darnielle and co. will fulfill their promise of a tour. This time they’re bringing star drummer Jon Wurster for the first time, playing Meredith Festival and six sideshows. If you’ve been patiently waiting for this news since April, it’s time to rejoice.
The Mountain Goats play the following headline shows in December. Tickets on sale Friday 3 October.

Sunday December 7 – Fowlers Live, Adelaide
Tuesday December 9 – The Rosemount, Perth
