Rapid Festival returns for2008!

The Rapid Music Festival returns in 2008 headlined by local five-piece, Avalon Drive and joined by the festival’s greatest lineup of over 40 bands from around the country congregating to the Lawnton Showgrounds (Gympie Road), Pine Rivers, QLD on Saturday October 4.

Fans of Avalon Drive are in for the biggest treat with the band launching their brand new EP The View From Afar at the festival – the fans first opportunity to purchase the four-track release featuring the is the infectious new single Last One Standing.

Joining Avalon Drive on the MySummerMusic.com stage will be other local favourites A Year To Remember, My Fiction and Repeat Offender, whilst over at the 4Zzz stage Sonic Porno, who recently finished a tour with Magic Dirt, will headline the stage with punk favourites, The Pints.

The lineup also includes performances by Falling Short, Alice’s Avenue, Morningtide, Ellington, Against, Among The Vanished, Belial, Bob Saget, Cheap Skates, Damsels in Distress, Defiance Wears Black, Dissonance, For Those Less Fortunate, Highway Blonde, Horizons Of Chaos, Leaf Steam, Levi Hendy, Nyvosus, Orbis, Sian Denni, Taller Than Trees, The C##t Offensive, The Glass Ceiling, The Lady Killers, The Love Buckles, Ring Pull, The Veil, Unspoken Chemistry, Van Kruskett, Wearing Rosco, Woven Fear and Warwick Davis.

There will also be roving entertainment, market stalls, food and drinks with the festival being strictly drug and alcohol free and supported by Moreton Bay Mayor Allan Sutherland.

Talking of the festival, Sutherland said it was terrific that the region could play host to events like Rapid. “While the Rapid Festival is a day packed with entertainment for our young people, it also offers opportunities for the organisers to develop employment skills,” he said.
