A music-lover’s Mecca, the St Jerome’s Laneway Festival is making its triumphant return in February 2009. This time round, Perth is getting in on the action too!
The ‘travelling street party’ showcased the cream of the indie crop in its 2008 edition, with stellar performances from the likes of Feist, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, The Presets and Gotye. It was Adelaide’s first Laneway, and the warm response has encouraged organisers to conquer the final frontier: Western Australia. 2009 heralds Laneway as a truly national festival – no small feat for a shindig that began in a humble Melbourne back-street.
The line-up will be revealed in mid-October, with tickets on sale shortly after. If past experience is anything to go on, you can be sure of a rapid sell-out, as “capacities will remain strictly limited once again”.
St Jerome’s Laneway Festival 2009 dates:
Brisbane – Saturday 31 January
Melbourne – Sunday 1 February
Perth – Friday 6 February
Adelaide – Saturday 7 February
Sydney – Sunday 8 February
