Brisbane based promoter the Showtime Touring Group have been slapped with a lawsuit by famed US producer Timbaland. The illustrious identity, who has worked with artists like Justin Timberlake, Jay-Z, Missy Elliot, Madonna and The Pussycat Dolls, was set to tour in July until the shows were postponed to August. Condemnation from the media and fans followed when only four days before the first scheduled show a cancellation notice for the tour was issued.
In their statement, Showtime asserted they “regret to inform fans that due to lack of contact from Timbaland and his management… Timbaland will not be appearing this month in Australia but he looks forward to performing for his Australian fans in the near future.” However it turns out Timbaland wants to set the record straight over the eleventh-hour cancellation, with the rapper claiming it happened after Showtime breached the obligations of its contract, failing to cover expenses for performance fees, security and accommodation.
