Well kids, the hits just keep on coming! Kirky has finally busted out a selfish solo, the Nationals are spicing things up politically and Banksy is taking on the US. Great things are happening everywhere, particularly in our little musical sandbox.

The week of excitement started early with Swedish prog metal goodness from Opeth. Stuo and goatlady indulged in the delectable melodic riffs and epic passages. Ahh the beauty of it all!
The next night, Old Man River supported Newton Fawkner and Frog_e fell in love with boys who play acoustic guitars. ashryn showed us why
After a day’s rest, Frog_e was back out, sampling the fuss of Faker She boldly confronted rowdy pink-shirted men and tiresome soundchecks, but came out one better, discovering Sparkadia and confirming Faker’s unstoppable energy. Ubiq was also there for the ride

On the same night, at the other edge of town, max-noakes bopped to a different tune. Initially impressed by The Typhoons’ musical, soulful hip-hop, kept hydrated by Nick Sweepah, made more rowdy by Hunter (Syllaboliks Crew) and finally satisfied by the optimistic energy of Muph and Plutonic
The weekend started strong, and Saturday night festivities made sure the ride continued. I3580 captured the buzz of fringe-laden, speaker-kicking Van She on their album release party.

Around the corner, ashryn took on the rock indie kids of Streetlight and Tracksuit who supported disco Melbournites, The Galvatrons. Good times were had shooting, note taking and dancin.
Down the road, Garage soaked in the good vibes of the Reload (Dave Carter Benefit). The Kill Devil Hills, The Dirty Secrets, The Panda Band, Mink Mussel Creek, Circuits of The Sun and B-Movie Heroes all rocked up to lend Dave Carter a helping hand, with proceeds from the night going to replace his stolen equipment. Yeah music is awesome like that!

Actually, it’s just awesome.
