This past week was yet another scorcher for the Brisbane live music scene, and what better way to start off our recap than with the Brian Jonestown Massacre, who made their way to the Arena, playing Brisbane for the first time. We were there, and our review and photos capture all the action.

Band-of-the-moment Van She were also on hand to launch their debut album V, and you can check out the review and photos from this show at the Met.

And Jebediah made a triumphant return to Brisbane in anticipation of their forthcoming album, and by all accounts (review and photos), they’ve lost none of their punch.

Meanwhile, Root! played at the Troubador, while Little Red charmed the pants off the Globe.

Birds Of Tokyo had a great night rocking out the Arena, and The Basics delivered an hour and a half of “slightly schizophrenic rock”, at least according to our review.

So all in all, it was a pretty good week for Brisbane, but it’s nothing compared to this week, which will see not only the Valley Fiesta, but also the Big Sound music showcases, and a bunch of other gigs as well. Stay tuned to FasterLouder for full coverage!
