Spending quite a lot of time out at FL’s favourite venues and bars this week, it came to my attention that the indie kids are taking over this town. When did indie get so cool?

You may have found yourself soaking up the loveiness of Epicure on Thursday night at Transit Bar or Gangbuster’s at Bar 32. Were your Calvin Kleins hanging out the back of you jeans at the weekend? If so, you might have found yourself at REV or Shakedown to experience the crème de la crème of indie music, fashion and fun in Canberra.

Some of the other highlights of the week included Gyroscope bringing their Australia Tour to the capital for a very rocking Tuesday night along with Shihad. Our girl on the ground described it as a ‘near death experience up front’. Check out the pics!

Following on was The Mercy Arms playing to a small but eager crowd at the Greenroom Friday night. This was a show well worth seeing and I recommend getting your indie ass out to see them next time they are in town. Also on Friday night, the lovely Ash Grunwald took to the stage at ANU Bar to play a stellar set.

If you’ve had your eyes peeled you surely would have noticed the delightful number of top quality bands coming to the capital over the next few weeks starting with Grafton Primary and Birds of Tokyo this weekend. Other tasty upcoming delights include Van She. Yves Klein Blue & The Holidays, End of Fashion and many others. And that’s before we get to the festival season!

As we stick out the final couple of weeks of chilly Canberra weather I hope you are salivating over all the great shows coming up and planning out your Spring. Lastly, keep your eyes peeled for an exciting announcement and collaboration between Bar 32 and FasterLouder around mid-October.

Enjoy your week of music!
