CHECK OUT THE BIG DAY OUT 2009 LINE-UP HERE!

After months of speculation, Neil Young is now Big Day Out’s first confirmed headliner. He’ll also play three special sideshows in January alongside My Morning Jacket!

The 62-year-old veteran draws from a distinguished line of albums in his still-passionate live performances. A Neil Young show spans everything from his landmark songs of the 1970s right through to his more recent work on albums like Living With War and Chrome Dreams II. A true leading light, the man will touch down on our shores for the first time in five years with his all-star band in tow. It’s a bold booking for the Big Day Out, and a wish fulfilled for fans.

And what better support for Neil Young than psych-rock originals My Morning Jacket? You can be pretty sure those Louisville lads will be boarding the Big Day Out bus tooÃ¢â‚¬Â¦

Neil Young plays the following headline shows in January. Tickets on sale Friday 19 September.

Wednesday 21 January – Brisbane Entertainment Centre

Saturday 24 January – Sydney Entertainment Centre

Wednesday 28 January – Myer Music Bowl, Melbourne

Just hoping it doesn't go down like Bjork, for example, if he's on before someone like Metallica and/or Nine Inch Nails.

Mixed emotions here, really want to see Neil Young; don't really want to see him at big day out. Would much rather sit down see a whole concert and make a night of it. Don't know if I can make the sideshows either so wont be able to buy tix.

saw neil young at roskilde festival this year. he was unreal! he was on stage for like 2.5 hours so i wonder if he'll do that again????

yeah agreed

I think metallica is ruled out as they are doing side shows so I hear? But to play before nine inch nails would be horrible for him. I love both him and trent and would certainly be happy :P

I think he should headline if that was the case like Bjork should have played after rage - and ended the festival on a dancy note.

Also doesn't it always suck with the big day out that so much good stuff clashes :O

That's one good thing about good vibes - they somehow managed to make sure all the stages overlapped in a way that you could see all acts on the day if you wanted to. That wouldn't be much of an experience but still you had that flexiblity.

Mind you the big day out has quite a lot more stages than good vibes 3/4

Ticketmaster is a fucking disgrace. And so is the scalping CUNT on ebay.

I was willing to come from Perth to Melbourne, but they didn't send the email about the presale (despite being on the list), and not possible to get them online or over the phone this morning. Now some prick who bought a hundred tickets is scalping them on ebay. FUCK YOU TICKETMASTER!!
