Globetrotting songman Michael Franti is always a welcome visitor to these shores, and he returns here in October with his band Spearhead. The outspoken activist recorded his most recent album, All Rebel Rockers, in Kingston, Jamaica with reggae greats Sly & Robbie. It’s as rousing and politically urgent as ever, traversing hip hop, rock, dub and soul.
We’ve seen Franti and Spearhead at a long line of festivals over the years, but this year they’re playing theatres in the company of devoted fans. It should be the ideal environment for their always-electric live show. Support on this tour comes from The Winnie Coopers and DJ Nick Toth.
Michael Franti and Spearhead bring their rebel rock to the following venues in October. Tickets go on sale Friday 12 September.
