Local Alternative station RTRFM’s Radiothon begins this weekend with a live broadcast from Planet on Friday morning, and the opening party at the Bakery on Saturday night.
Radiothon 2008 will run from 29 August to 7 September, and all of the announcers will be asking you to subscribe to your favourite program to show your support, and help fund the not-for-profit- radio station. Whether your favourite show is Woodstock Rock, Homegrown, Out to Lunch or Difficult Listening, you can let the volunteer presenters know, and win prizes at the same time.
The Breakfast Show launch on Friday morning at Planet Books in Mt Lawley starts at 6am. Peter Barr will be mixing it live with all of the Breakfast regulars and special guests. There will be free brekkie and tea and coffee as well plus live performances from The Bank Holidays, Abbe May and James Cruikshank (Cruel Sea)
The Radiothon Opening Party on August 30th will be at the Bakery from 8pm. This year the line up includes The Kuling Bros, Boys Boys Boys, Diger Rokwell in live mode, The Voltaire Twins, and Mia Sonos. On the decks will be Perth’s first man of Drum n Bass Greg Packer, Massiv Trav, Trainwreck’s Declan and Gonzo, The Signal Drivers, The Brothers Elliott and many more.
First prize this year is $7000 worth of stereo and CDs, second prize is a Honda scooter. If you haven’t listened for a while, you should check out the program guide on their website, and see if your special musical obsession is catered for.
