Gorillaz Sound System comingto Oz

Animated popsters the Gorillaz are bringing their Sound System show down under in November for the Global Gathering festival – and hopefully some sideshows? This will be the first time ever Australia has experienced the Gorillaz’s audio-visual treat, and comes after a successful year of touring to international festivals like Pukkelpop and Creamfields.

Global Gathering, which also features producer-to-the-stars Mark Ronson and electronica greats Kraftwerk, will take place at the Hordern Pavilion, Royal Hall of Industries & Entertainment Quarter on Sunday November 30th, and in Melbourne it all goes down at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl on Saturday November 22nd. If you’re in Perth or Brisbane sit tight, as venues and dates are coming soon.

This was announced when they played Creamfields.

"Gorillaz Sound System will feature "eye-popping 360-degree Gorillaz visuals delivered from 20 old school projectors" and "4 DJs in Gorillaz Sound System gear"."

I assume is Albarn was going to be there, then they would say as much.

i think it's just gorillaz visuals combined with gorillaz-esque music

not the real deal though :(

As far as I can tell it's more of about the 'show' than it is about the 'music'.

hmm

whilst the true live experience obviously involves de la soul and all the other special guest musicians, our lovely blur frontman and his ten or whatnot piece band sillohetted to the visuals

I still think it'd be pretty swank.

We all have to just accept Gorillaz is a project, not a band and this is a pretty good compramise - a sound system spectical.

along with deltron 3000

a big swank band
and all the other guests

however it's gorillaz and the youtube clips showed off some pretty awesome dub beats mixed together with lots of gorillaz stuff and the visuals would be swank so I'm sold anyway. also think about it - if it's well recieved they might consider a full band tour ;-0

anyway I'm mainly here to post:

anyone know the global gathering presale code - MGMT's was easy to find but even as a subscriber to all these touring agencies and ticket companies I still can't come across it and the tickets are so cheap atm :O

The live show I saw of gorillaz in london sounded pretty terrible. Albarns voice was totally off and the accompianing musos were very loose indeed.

But this is close enough, I wonder if they'll have a band play the songs live, from the "Sound System" bit, I'm thinking not. I guess we'll all find out.
