This week in Canberra it was the girls that shook things up! Whether it was the charming and disarming Kasey Chambers, the luscious teenagersintokyo or Brigette Handley and The Dark Shadows which ever way you look at it the girls were on top this weekend.
Thursday night kicked the week of music off with The Boat People pulling in at Transit Bar for a fantastic night of – you guessed it free music. Celebrating the release of Chandeliers, The Boat People commenced their tour along with The Dawn Collective and mcArtney.
Friday night saw the lovely Kasey Chambers take to the stage at The Royal Canberra Theatre with husband Shane Nicholson and literally her whole family in tow. Putting on a fantastic night of alt-country the Chambers’ showed they really are the modern day Carter family.
Friday night also saw Brigette Handley and The Dark Shadows for the last show of their current tour in support of the recently released Stand Off EP. Unfortunaltey the fans weren’t out en force at ANU Bar but these girls really rocked out.
The highlight of the week however was the highly anticipated teenagersintokyo show at Transit Bar on Saturday night. After a late start and major lineup confusion Allies and those teenagers completely blew away the hot and sweaty Transit crowd. Unfortunately due to confusion Purple Sneaker’s DJ’s did not play! But we all hope that the indie DJ Kings make their way back to Canberra soon.
Meanwhile at our favourite indie club down the road Bar 32’s new club night Shakedown was well underway playing a sassy mix of indie-alt-dance courtesy of the Bar 32 DJs Chris, Ema and FL’s very own k-rad and Simmo. The pictures really are worth clicking on!
This week brings more lovely delights for you to bit into including; Pete Murray, Euphonic, Gangbusters, Frankenbok, and Escape Syndrome.
